Fifteen years on from the development of the WEMWBS scales, they are now used in a range of public health and voluntary sector settings and have been adopted across three UK countries to monitor mental wellbeing at the population level and develop policy.
There is now a unique opportunity to assess the impact of different interventions on mental wellbeing by reviewing the evaluation literature that uses these scales. By conducting a rapid review, it will be possible to gain a better understanding of the key components that can improve wellbeing, identify evidence gaps, and inform future research and policy.
The aim of this project was to conduct a rapid review of interventions to explore the use of WEMWBS and evaluate which interventions are the most effective at increasing wellbeing. Specifically, we aimed to answer the following research questions:
- What evaluation research has been carried out to assess the effectiveness of programmes and pilots on mental wellbeing?
- What is the strength of evidence of the evaluation research?
- What are the key findings from the evaluation research?
